چکیده
Teaching evolution is one of the most difficult tasks in biology education since there are a great variety obstacles to its understanding. The inclusion nature science and scientific inquiry, connection with aspects daily life, work based on argumentation, use empirical studies from current research have been identified as important include teaching evolution. In this work, we present series three activities, which were developed after considering all recommendations literature described above. sequence begins example species loved by students: dogs. متن کاملReforming Science Teaching: What Research says about Inquiry*
Inquiry has a decades-long and persistent history as the central word used to characterize good science teaching and learning. Even at a time when a new word, constructivism, had entered the general educational lexicon as the descriptor of good education, the authors of the National Science Education Standards (NSES) chose to stay with inquiry and totally ignore the new word. But in spite of it...
متن کاملCommonly Asked Questions about Teaching Collaborative Activities
How do I decide which assignments/activities to make collaborative? — A good rule of thumb is that if there's no reason for an activity to be collaborative, perhaps it shouldn't be. As you contemplate making a project collaborative, consider these questions: What is the objective or goal of this assignment or activity? How will that objective be furthered by asking students to work in groups? I...
متن کاملChanging Minds With the Story of Adaptation: Strategies for Teaching Young Children About Natural Selection
Research Findings: Educational guidelines recommend a delayed, piecemeal approach to instruction on adaptation by natural selection. This approach is questionable given suggestions that older students’ pervasive misunderstandings about adaptation are rooted in cognitive biases that develop early. In response to this, Kelemen et al. (2014) recently showed that young children can learn a basic ye...
